While there, we attended sessions about various admission subjects and greatest practices, such as exactly how to give a fruitful school that is high, what forms of technology might be beneficial in the recruitment process, and exactly how to read college essays while paying attention of our own private biases (positive or negative). The conference also gave us a chance in order to connect with our colleagues from various components of the country, including many of your high school counselors. Summer in the town
It’s officially summer in Southern Ca! Campus is just a bit quieter, the conditions are becoming warmer, and a lot of importantly, the rate in our workplace has slowed down. We are also advantage that is taking of downtime to explore Los Angeles and all which our town has to supply our pupils.
Like in past summers, we’re utilising the summer time Restaurant Series, prepared by some of our own colleagues, to explore the cuisine that is local. Simply month that is last we ventured to 23rd St. Café in USC’s backyard. This unique restaurant offers American, Indian, and Mexican food, as well as some fusion dishes. The Chicken Tikka Masala quesadilla was quite popular in our team! For the food that is second, our restaurant series took us to Umamicatessen. According to the internet site, this location is ‘inspired by worldwide street bazaars and the classic United states delicatessen’ and offers 5 different kitchen areas serving up diverse types of food within a dining hall situated inside the Orpheum Theatre. Some of our dishes that are favorite this outing had been the truffle fries, made-to-order donuts, and different kinds of Umami’s specialty: burgers.
Besides consuming our way through some of LA’s notable restaurants, we will invest time during July and August attending events that are cultural checking away historic spots around the city. Some activities we’ll experience include a guided tour of the Disney Concert Hall and Music Center, enjoying the Downtown LA Art Walk, and hopping in the newly opened Expo line to simply take the train to the Culver City Farmers Market.
